Last year I shared my 9/11 story. You can read it here. It was simultaneously uneventful and life changing. At 20, I had never experienced a national tragedy. I didn’t know that those types of terrible things could happen to our country. In a way I grew up that day and today, a decade later, I find myself missing the innocence of youth. Because once the bubble is shattered, you can never go back. But the sum of our life experiences, those personal and those shared, are what make us into the people we are. And I wouldn’t trade them for anything because we are stronger for it all. Growth is gained from the things that scar us.
I hope you had a lovely weekend of remembrance. We had absolutely perfect weather here, much like I remember having 10 years ago. And we did the most American thing I can think of, we watched a lot of football.
