There are so many aspects of running a company, some that are in line with you and your talents and some that are not. But as a business owner, you don’t have the luxury of just ignoring the things you don’t like or are not good at.
I will now expand on my confession at the risk of letting you all know that I am not perfect. My Achilles heel is pr, marketing, sales & getting the word out. It is not only that I have no training in this area, but my personality is such that I keep to myself. I have a hard time tooting my own horn and talking my products up. I know this is common theme among people that consider themselves artists. We tend to think that our work should speak for itself.
As you know, I can’t just bury my head in the sand a refuse to market myself. I have to get out of my comfort zone in order for my company to succeed.
The other option is to hire someone else to do this for me. This is a valid option since sometimes we just can’t make the leap ourselves.
I urge you to take an honest look at yourself and your company and identify the weaknesses so that you can do what you need to do to fix it.
