i think about organization all year long, but i know that a lot of you think mostly about it this time of year. i thought i would offer up my one tip on organization. i just finished doing this today and it makes me feel ready to face the year.
step 1:: get a moleskin planner, okay you can get any other planner that fits your personal needs, but I just adore the simplicity of these and i love that you get half a page for each day (i need to doodle)
step 2:: get all your important dates together, birthdays, trips planned, deadlines
step 3:: sit down today, or sooner and put in all the important days of the coming year
step 4:: add little reminders like a week before Suzy’s birthday, write in “send Suzy birthday gift” that way you can insure you’re never late on getting a gift or a card to those you love.
step 5:: if you’re crazy like me, you can add notes every month to pay your bills (late fees are pesky)
step 6:: don’t be shy about writing down the obvious, we all have the tendency to forget stuff when we get busy
step 7:: write in the notes section important facts that you may need to reference throughout the year. i jot down a few passwords and the mileage to the places i frequent so i can keep track.
step 8:: now that you have it all set up, you need to look at it everyday in order for the system to work, also when you write in your to dos each day, don’t be afraid to write things that you have already accomplished that day. i think calendars are great diaries for those of us who are not prone to writing.
i hope this little tip helps!
